FIPA represents the irradiation service industry,
manufacturers of food irradiators and suppliers of cobalt-60
sources. It's members have decades of experience in all aspects
of commercial radiation processing.
MISSION STATEMENT
To support the food industry in the
selective adoption of food irradiation by means of Electron beam,
Gamma, and X-ray, in an environmentally safe manner as a means
to improve food safety and quality in terms of pathogen reduction,
as a quarantine treatment, and for product shelf life extension.
OBJECTIVES
To provide a forum for representatives
of the radiation industry to discuss and influence matters related
to the irradiation of food by means of Electron beam, Gamma,
and X-ray.
- Foster industry and consumer support and
confidence.
- Participate in the development of codes of
practice and safety standards.
- Assist in education about food irradiation.
- Assist in the resolution of controversial
issues pertaining to food irradiation.
